Beware of Stream Global Services

Stream Global Services, SM North EDSA, Quezon City Site
Hands Out "30-Day Forced Unpaid Leaves" to 55 HP PSG Employees

Last Saturday morning, May 29th, was supposed to be another normal day in the office for John (not his real name), a technical support professional for Hewlett Packard's desktop support group in HP Stream Quezon as the first Manila site is known among its global partners. John's shift starts at 4am and he had no clue whatsoever about what was in store for him that fateful day. You see, John never had the chance to login that day and work because he was sent home by his Team Manager because he was handed out a "forced leave." There were sounds of disgust, muffled cries because of disappointment and heartbreak and worries, and there were controlled fits of anger that day from the affected and even unaffected agents. Even the Team Managers themselves who served the infamous directive to the hapless agents were at lost about what happened and why it was happening. They were as confused as their now "unofficially" jobless subordinates. If there was a clear image of the management blindsiding its employees - THIS IS IT.

I can never imagine how a directive as devastating as this in scope and effect went unnoticed and undetected by HP's top brasses. If what HP's bosses say - that they never knew this was coming - is true (and we have reason to believe that it is) then does this mean that the kind of management that they have in Stream is the kind that goes through the backdoor in the late hour like a thief in the night to hand out unpopular and harmful directives? In this case, deciding to remove food from the tables of the 55 agents they pulled out of the floor with so short a notice. The 30-days forced leave is naturally unpaid. What do you expect these people to do in that span of time, relax and have a good time? These employees have families and some of them are bread-winners! Is this because the company is too greedy to retrench these people because they will be paying them more? To quote one commenter on another blog about this topic... "(the affected agents) are not planning to move to different company but Stream Global company leaves the majority of us with no choice." This is exactly what I mean.

Word from HP Senior agents and TM's themselves describe the meeting called by Stream's Site Director Nemanja "Nem" Zec and new HP SDM Criselda Fernando ("?" a question mark here because word is she's yet to introduce herself to the HP people) with STM Ann Michelle "Mitch" Ng as secretive. STM Mitch was only kept up to speed about the directive on the said meeting and she has no part in making the infamous decision. Was it SD Nem or SDM Cris? Your guess is as good as mine. But one thing's for sure, these people who made the decision (should I say these people who schemed?) to put these employees in forced leave have their balls intact when they're maliciously planning these directives but they have no balls to serve them! If I were one of those affected by this policy, I'd say, "I want the person/s who made this decision to have the guts to serve it to me and explain it fully!" I want them to look in the eye of the people that they will be thieving from! Tsk! I can't breathe from all the malice behind this directive! :-(

Is this move legal? I don't know. I'm not a labor lawyer nor a law expert. I hope that readers who are knowledgeable on the topic would enlighten us by posting comments here. The legal aspect regarding this matter might be a topic I would write about on my next blogs. For now, what I know based on my conscience and common sense is that there is injustice and something amiss about all these unfortunate events. Is the company losing money? Well, they just bought a big BPO company in E-Telecare, so you tell me. I don't think they'd be buying out E-Tel only for Stream to be bankrupt itself... right?

Rumor has it that...

1. There are agents who would be undergoing or are already undergoing HP PSG training to replace those that were uhm, set aside. Word is also out that they are former E-Tel Dell employees who lost their seats when Dell pulled out from E-Tel. Hmmnn... I smell, what's that famous resto in Eastwood? Something Fishy! So there.

2. There will be more agents who will be uhm... asked to take a 30-day vacation. Let's hope that this one will remain a rumor.

3. E-Tel is out to remove Stream's "original" people in sensitive positions so that they can place their own. Now this rumor has been floating around since well-loved former bosses in Stream SD Barbie Dela Torre and former HP SDM Kurt Andrada resigned. *wink! wink!*

So, there you go. Those are the latest happening in Stream Global Services. Are you planning to apply there? Well, think again because those who are already in wants out in the soonest time possible. To those who are already in... you know the drill - prepare to abandon ship!

Oh and before I forget, this is just the first of many parts. I have yet to discuss the HMO and a beautiful person named Christopher Roxas (RIP). Until my next blog. :-)

  1. ...hope this blog helps us victims of the said company. whatever happens, one things for sure, we won't give up without a fight! i suggest that all of us that are affected by this company's irregularities go to DOLE the soonest time possible for advice, or worse(need i say anything?)..

we need to coordinate with each other in order for us to achieve what we deserve, which is, in other words, justice...

looking forward to you next blog, rathalos prince... -blaze

  2. Thank you for that information. I remember what my operation manager stated when we had casual conversation to those people who are resigning in our company because of our pay (I'm working in a call center in Ortigas), "Even our basic salary is only P12000 (but it will increase), our company is stable financially. Look those call centers who are giving P16000+ as starting salary, palugi na. Kaya nagpapalit ng name." -codypets

  3. i am one of those agents that they required to go on forced leave for 30 days and take note it might be extended. it is very disappointing for all of us who are striving their best just to give them the stats that they need. we were all shocked when we were requested to have a meeting and discussed this shi*t. i was just out for lunch then when i came back i lost my job! i was teary eyed when i learned about it. i was very disgusted and dont even know who was to blame. naiiyak ako sa galit at that time!!! they didnt bother to give us even a 2 day notice to prepare ourselves! they are very
inconsiderate people especially the one who made this decision. i hope that person can still sleep with what happened. they took away the food on those agents. there was really no due process. they are saying that
they based it on the stack ranking but they didnt even dare to show it to us! even the most tenured agents and even tm's wasnt able to lay their eyes on that said stack ranking. it even hurt us when we learned that there are trainees for hp that came from etel. they are really replacing the original stream people! on that said meeting they made clear that it is not a lay-off (natural kc kng lay-off they need to pay those agents or they
need to transfer them to a diffrent acct) instead it is forced leave. pinaganda lang ang word for forced resignation (natural uli, bawal yon sa batas and madedemanda tlga cla). but what will those agents do?
they will get tired and of course need to find a new job so what will happen they will resign which is yun ang gusto tlga nla mangyari. they even informed us that we
cant apply to a different call center because we are still employees of stream, inactive status nga lang. at take note, employed pa rin sa stream but they already deactivated the badges! a*sshole di ba?! they said that
they will call us but that wont really happen. di kami mga tanga!! wag nyo kaming gawing bobo! 30 days wait??! no way! kawawa mga natitirang agents. if i were u guys, get the hell out of that shi*t before they bite
    then oust you.

  4. My piece of mind... This must be reported to the DOLE. If you guys have the guts to write this, then you should also have the guts to take this court.
A lawyer will be provided for you if you dont have the money to hire one.
The process starts with a labor arbriter acting as a mediator between two parties, Stream and employee. If an arrangement is not settled, it then taken to court.

  6. yeah... my god.. .what happened was very frustrating for us... It makes the stream world very worst..now.. many people are suffering from what happened... Agents are expecting to get their job back... tsk... they can always tell us that they will call us... hmm... karma is always around... cant say anything more...

  7. @ Ytchiey - Thank you so much for the information. Yes, we have the guts to take this to DOLE and even to NLRC and we will. We are just gathering everyone so we can come on full force. And we're getting opinions from lawyers and labor arbiters as I write this. I appreciate your sharing some information and contacts to us. They will definitely help.

  10. BPO - "fast paced, dynamic, ever changing industry"

    just a few thoughts

    Part 1

FGD stands for Focus Group Discussion. this is where a select group of people are gathered to discuss something. the reason it's called a focus group is because you only get a sample of the general populace. Anything more would be a town hall meeting. i know its a little off when the issue is about PSG and you have STMs from IPG in the discussion, so i wonder where were the 2 STMs? it would have been much better if they were there, but management had their reasons

like it or not, this is a business. the objective is to make money- not to provide jobs. it just so happens that people are needed to make that money. so if we do our jobs, then the business runs. if we do our jobs well, the business earns. but if we do our jobs poorly, then the business loses. The business is not obligated to employ for the sake of employment if they dont earn.

running a business is no easy matter. The people at the top have to worry about how to keep the business earning, or at the very least, running. having to force leave more 55 employees was the best course of action to alleviate expenses, as opposed to shutting down the entire program, sounds cruel, but that's life. from what i understand, 2 reasons for this were low call volume and sub par performance.

no matter how good a performance a site gives, if there is low call volume, there is really nothing that can be done except to mitigate expenses- hence time off. if this isnt done, then the program would be paying for salaries of employees not doing anything, until the program would have to shut down permanently. in the long run, everyone loses.

sub par performance is not acceptable for a business is to earn. sub par performance would be okay if making money wasnt the goal (how do you expect to be paid). from what i was told, the performance at PSG is not something spectacular, or at the very least, has alot to be desired. Sure, 6j or kv did win best site for a particular month- but that was just 1 month. Do if for 3 months straight then we'll talk. ive been told that in the off-shore calls (that's when the big bosses of stream and hp have a conference to talk about performance, policies and stuff) the performance of PSG is often being called out (or criticized) on a regular basis. during these calls, Kurt represents the site and he often gets a beating for all of their shortcomings. If they dont do well, its on his head. but being the classy guy that he is, he took it all in stride.. he would in turn talk to his STMs and let them know of need to shape up. the STMs would then talk to their TMs and let them know of the need to shape up. then the TMs would talk to their SPs and let them know of the need to shape up. So the question is, were the SPs made aware that not doing their jobs well could cost them their jobs? And if they were, did they take it seriously?

  11. part 2

Stack Rank. i honestly believe that there is more to people than being given numbers based on performance to determine their worth. but this is business, and in business, its all about the numbers. Im all for using stack rank to determine who should go on forced leave and who gets to stay, but for the computations to be hidden, that's just dubious. im not sure about the allegations whether the data was messed up or not, but transparency would be greatly appreciated. keep in mind that these event happened very quickly because it was a business need. management had to act fast and had to act with what data they had, the STMs that were available at the time.

i dunno if there's some growing enmity between IPG and PSG, with the recent developments and all, but what i can say is this- don't blame IPG. poor performance on their end my have dragged down the performance of the site, but not when you're looking at it on an LOB perspective. PSG has their problems, and IPG has their problems, so i expect the same thing to happen to IPG of their performance doesnt show any promise. lastly, whats the big deal about PSG launching first? does seniority merit special treatment?

with regards to the dell agents from Etel being trained for HP conflicting with the low call volume excuse- this is totally unrelated. stream can only bill the client for the time the SPs are already taking in calls. the expenses incurred for training are shouldered by stream and they cannot bill the client for that. HP doesnt spend a cent to train those dell agents.

The (unholy) union of Stream and Etel left a bad taste in everyone's mouths. Its been said that the merger brought together the worst of both worlds. People from Etel arent happy, people from Stream arent happy- nice merger.

in closing, i wish the 55 SPs all the best and I hope they get back to work, get a better job or bring this to court. and may this be an eye opener to everyone that work is work and that we are paid to do our jobs properly and not doing so has consequences.

I think those 55 SPs should just apply in eTelecare. I'm sure eTel will take good care of their agents. I have worked for eTel.

  16. The bottom line of this issue is legality.

@ Anonymous - I agree that the objective of a business is making money and not providing jobs. But please step back and think where did the money come from? It was generated by the people the company gave jobs to..

If the company is losing money, they have 3 options:

Option 1 : Declare Retrenchment - Give notice to DOLE and provide the unfortunate employees what they are due

Option 2 : Declare Redundancy - same as option 1

Option 3 : Declare bankruptcy - Employees may end up not getting a cent but it would be understandable since the company is bankrupt.

In this scenario, the company hired these people to do a job. If the job wasn't done right, due process should have been executed.

THERE IS NO DUE PROCESS in this scenario. They just cut the employees off their company leaving them to starve or die.

@ Rathalos - Give them a good fight. We are filipinos in the Philippines. This happened right here in our native land.

'WAG KAYO PAPAYAG NA MAGULANGAN SA SARILI NINYONG BANSA!

    Sorry.. Na-carried away lang po...

Sue them individually or as a group.. It doesn't matter.. Just SUE them.

    Good Luck, Guys!

  26. Just to clear up all the controversies, I am one of those so called "DELL Employees" who were transferred to HP PSG-KV. And for those who are badmouthing and spreading rumors to stream. Let me just say you do not know half the story.

We are people who are newly hired and we were transferred not as replacements but for the shaw site. So please do not use as us a reason why you are in that position

  27. Mr/Ms. Dell employee,

First, we have no issues with you. If you read my blog carefully, nothing there indicates that I am blaming you nor your colleagues. I never said that you guys are the reason why this is happening to us which gives me a clear indication that you never read the blog. It seems like you're just responding to the comments made here.

Second, I am not bad-mouthing Stream. I am writing the TRUTH. Plain and simple.

Third, please feel free to read the blog from parts 1-4... and the upcoming ones so YOU will know half the story. It's YOU who knew so little about this, not me.

You don't even know a small portion of it, sir or ma'am. So please, spare me your lecture. I am merely pointing out that your existence lays credence to my story that Stream Global Services has no reason to issue forced leaves to its employees.

  28. Good day! I'm from Stream Cebu. I arrived here just last month. I'm still a trainee in a specific Dell program here in Cebu. Dalawang waves kami, a total of 50 trainees sa account na yun. Last tuesday, we were really surprised when the site director informed us na matetemporary lay-off kami for six months. Imagine, kakastart palang ng training, lay-off agad yung nakuha namin. Kawawa naman kami lalo na't hindi kami tga Cebu. Many of us came from different provinces. We were hired through jobfair lang kasi. Stream promised us na Dell is the most stable account ng Stream Cebu. Eh bakit ganito yung nangyari? Marami pako gustong i-share. Kaso mahirap na, baka mabasa pa to ng Stream. haha

  29. Mr/Ms Dell Stream Cebu,

Why be afraid to write about it? Get a pseudo account and just fire away with your story. Just don't forget to share it with us. :-) You're still lucky there, you know? At least there, you were informed ahead of time and your Site Director had the balls to do it. Here in Stream Quezon where Mr. Nemanja Zec sits as Site Director? He shoved those papers to his subordinates and he wants them to shove it to our faces in turn. He's not even man enough to face us all in (as a commenter pointed out) a town hall.

Write about what's happening! Check with a labor arbiter. You may have a case against Stream. ;-)

  30. Rathalos I have worked as a trainer and team manager for HP in another center and stream as well longer than you have worked there in HP. I have read your blog from top to bottom.

#1 Spare me the lecture? You are in no position to question the company's reason for having you go on force leave. And DELL is a stable account however depends on the LOB. Most of the trainees now are from HP Bacoor, If you were ask to be on aforce leave it's either you are not performing or have reliability issues. Because come to think of it why would they remove 55 employees if they are performers. Am I right? Make some f** sense? This blog is already being monitored by Stream as I speak. They will be trace the IP and pinpoint those who are giving false information. Kung di kayu kuntento umalis na lang kayo and keep your mouth shut! Kasi kung dada kayu ng dada walang mangyayari di ba????

  32. To Mr/Ms HP Trainer/TM,

Wow! You've got great credentials! Am I that famous already? I hope that Mr. Nemanja Zec's reading this as well.

"Rathalos I have worked as a trainer and team manager for HP in another center and stream as well longer than you have worked there in HP. I have read your blog from top to bottom."

So, you are a trainer and a team manager. Pasensya ka na ha, nahirapan kasi akong intindihin ang English mo eh. But I'll take your word for it. Tutal hindi lang naman ikaw ang kilala kong TM na sablay mag-Ingles. Pero kung trainer ka - that's unacceptable!

"#1 Spare me the lecture? You are in no position to question the company's reason for having you go on force leave..."

I AM IN NO POSITION TO QUESTION THE COMPANY'S REASON FOR HAVING US GO ON FORCED LEAVE?! Are you out of your effing mind?! So let me ask you, if this directive affects one of your subordinates and they asked you why it is being given to them - are you going to tell them to "shut up and look for another job if you can't take it," because they are not in position to question the company's decision? Sir/Ma'am, you are completely out of your mind! Every employee has a right to question or inquire about any company decision specially if this directly affects him/her. You as a TM should know that! O kaya ka siguro na-promote eh dahil ganyan ka mag-isip. Kung STM mo ako, masarap kang maging subordinate dahil para kang aso - you just follow orders without thinking.

"And DELL is a stable account however depends on the LOB."

I never questioned Dell's stability. Dell is a big company but here's the million-dollar question: Why is it pulling out from Stream/E-Tel? Why is Stream training Dell agents for an HP account? It is very clear that it is Stream Global Services who's screwing up here, not Dell, not HP. I am questioning Stream Global Services' decision to hand out forced leaves on its employees.

  33. continuation...

"Most of the trainees now are from HP Bacoor, If you were ask to be on aforce leave it's either you are not performing or have reliability issues. Because come to think of it why would they remove 55 employees if they are performers. Am I right? Make some f** sense?"

I thought you read my blog. Did you even try to research on your own? If employees are not performing, then you have guidelines and procedures to follow. You cannot just terminate employees, or in this case, hand down lengthy forced leaves, specially if they are regularized. Does that make any fucking sense to you? If not, just try putting yourself in these affected people's shoes. It will also help if you can consult people who specializes in our Labor Code. It seems like you don't know anything about it.

Have you seen the stack ranking that I'm talking about? Obviously not, but I somehow managed to describe how it was formulated in my blog. Some of the affected agents have to bear the label of being bottom performers when they're really not. But because the fucked up stack ranking formulas said so, off they go.

"This blog is already being monitored by Stream as I speak. They will be trace the IP and pinpoint those who are giving false information."

I know that Stream Global Services are monitoring this blog. I am actually flattered by that fact. :-) Don't even try to scare me about them being able to trace the IP address, etc. because I have given this a very careful thought before I decided to write this. I can take care of myself. Thank you for the warning anyway but I will not stop doing this. And one more thing - these are not false information I'm writing about. Ask around. Go to Stream Quezon site and talk to the HP people there. Go ahead, I dare you.

"Kung di kayu kuntento umalis na lang kayo and keep your mouth shut! Kasi kung dada kayu ng dada walang mangyayari di ba????"

We will never keep our mouth shut. My fingers will not stop typing about the injustices being done in Stream Global Services because if they can do it to those in HP Stream Quezon, they can do it to other sites and other people as well.

Yes, we will be leaving eventually but not before we see Stream Global Services punished for the injustices it did to its employees. Oh, and we are not just all talks. Have you read Part 5 of this blog yet? You're more than welcome to follow the hearings for this case. I heard the affected people already filed a case against your immaculate company!

  34. Mr/Ms Dell Employee,

Suffice it to say that I know the truth because what's happening in Stream Global Services is directly affecting me, my friends, and those people that I respect.

We have evidences that you speak of but this is not the proper forum to talk about it. How we acquired it or through whom is something that will be discussed in the proper place and in the proper time.

Oh, and the affected people are bringing it to court, don't worry. They already filed a case yesterday and I can't wait for the hearing date. You shouldn't miss it.

Its between HP and Stream.

    ReplyDelete
  36. Dell pulled out of E-Tel or Dell did not really pull out, there was just reshuffling... whatever the case may be, the point here is that Stream Global Services shouldn't have placed its employees on a 30-day forced leave without due process. It's that simple.

    ReplyDelete
  37. What i think of it yes they should not have placed those employees on a forced leave. the process was unjust and those agents should have been put on a PIP (performance Improvement program) However, I would also question the contract that those employess have signed. is there anything that states that non-performance would result of having the company make drastic measures? because if there was no documentation about a performance improvement program, you would not have a chance to sue a company. question first the legalities, since you were not "terminated" and "illegally dismissed" and the document that you signed for is for a force leave and not termination.

    Nuff said!!!

  38. Bro maglaro ka na lang ng Monster Hunter...Rathalos. Wala ka namang binatbat sa mga blog mo. Cabron! wala ka namang ebidensya, bakit ka natatakot ipost ang ebidensya mo???HA!!!

  39. @ Batman - The lawyers and labor arbiters of the affected agents, I believe, have already analyzed both the contracts and the notice given to the agents. The fact that the agents were advised by the said lawyers to go ahead and file a case is an indication that the due process was not really followed.

There was a clear case of constructive dismissal which is illegal and punishable under our laws.

@ Jedi L2 of Dell - The fact that you posted a comment here states that I merited attention and you clearly gave me that. Again, like I said a few comments back, I have no issues with you, guys. My quarrel is with Stream Global Services.

The case is already filed in NLRC. The evidences I'm talking about would only be revealed in the court hearings for the benefit of my colleagues. I won't be bringing them out here only to have Stream prepare their defense for it. If you're so interested to know what they are, attend the hearings.

May the force be with you. ^_^

    ReplyDelete
  40. I wish you guys the best of luck. I hope that you win in the case filed in court. This company is really a trap. The reason behind the merger was mainly financial in nature - poor performance. If you'll take a look at the financial report posted in their website, they have a negative bottom-line. And this is the case for many years now.

As the blog title states, beware of this company. It can bite and poison your life in an instant.

But surely, and I am confident that those who were adversely affected will have new professional career ahead of them in no time. This event may be a fortune in disguise to send them away from the future problems. This is the right moment to look for better (surely) opportunities as the BPO industry in the country as I know will continuously be growing.

  41. Ako rin yung nag comment sa June 13, 2010 2:02 AM, Happy Independence day! At least malaya na kayo sa mga nang-aalipin. Mabuhay kayo! Madami pang oportunidad jan.

Dahil gusto ko pang sumabat, management should be the middleman/liaison between the employees and the owners. Meaning, these management people are not the owner! The company was just entrusted to them by the owners for them to do the rightful thing.

Another advice would be to notify the owners. They might not be aware of such events. I recommend you check out their websites.

    Good luck! Mabuhay kayo!

  42. Glad I got out...

I must have got out just in time. The HP contract already was pretty lame, and of course Stream has always been a half-ass company that only cares about turning a profit, so I'm not at all surprised that they are ousting the Quezon City folks.

I know Teleperformance is hiring for some good positions in Mandaluyong City and Bacolod City. If interested, call them @ +63.2.637.7111.

  43. I went back to this site. I need to comment, I can't help it.

To Anonymous who posted the following comment, I quote:

"Just to clear up all the controversies, I am one of those so called "DELL Employees" who were transferred to HP PSG-KV. And for those who are badmouthing and spreading rumors to stream. Let me just say you do not know half the story.

We are people who are newly hired and we were transferred not as replacements but for the shaw site. So please do not use as us a reason why you are in that position"

Wag ka na mag-Ingles kasi masakit sa ulo basahin ang Ingles mo. The same goes to those who call themselves trainer or TM -- you do not deserve to be called what you say you are. There are FLAs on the floor better than you.

You said you're a new hire and will be assigned at Shaw. So, do you know the whole story? If you do, then post.

FYI, these are not rumors. These events happened in fact. I hope you'll experience what these 55 TSPs experienced so you will know what they are going through right now.

To the 55, do not let those responsible for this "forced leave" issue get away. Show them what Due Process means.

To Rathalos Prince, keep it up.

    Ex-Stream

  44. I'm sharing the same elated feeling of those that has gotten out of Stream Quezon before it happened.

  45. To the people supportive of the agents who were handed down forced leaves, from the bottom of my heart, thank you so much!

It is people like you who gives these people strength to carry on and fight the good fight.

These affected agents are not just fighting for the heck of it. That's what some people don't understand. They are fighting not only because they were wronged but because they don't want Stream Global Services to do it to others. No one here wants this to happen again.

Again, thank you and yes, I will keep writing these blogs for the sake of the affected Stream agents and for other call center agents who were victims of oppressive call center companies in the Philippines.

    ReplyDelete
  46. I'm a site director in a call center here in TAWI-TAWI. I read your blog and I was inspired to do thid Temporary lay-off thingie.

    ReplyDelete
  47. blogger/everyone - Don't you think Stream/Etel would have thought this through before doing this? It's been done before in Etel, and other countless BPO companies. It's legal. And will continue to happen. Do your work properly and be part of the top. Don't put yourself in the position to be the lowest in the stack rank. Even if the stack rank is "dubious", don't tell me you didn't know the metrics. Let's face it, they removed the bottom 55, if you were on top or they thought you were good, they would keep you. You can blog and whine all you want, but it will keep happening. Grow up and deal with it.

    ReplyDelete
  48. @ Mr/Ms Site Director - LOL! I admit. That was funny!

@ Anonymous - Read Part 6. Much of it is for you. I should say though that my friends told me that you sounded so much like one of the upper management in the FGD. Like SDM Cris Fernando or SD Nemanja Zec.

    ReplyDelete
  49. Thanks, I've always wanted to sound like a cyclops. Just read the comment again. It sounds like upper management? It sounds like sense. You sound like a call center jumper who just wants to make money without doing the work right. You and 54 other people I know.

    ReplyDelete
  50. Sounds like sense? Hardly. It sounds like an excellent command of the English language. I'll give you that, but it sounds like sense? Haha. Don't push your luck. We can talk about the really "dubious" stack ranking when the issue about the forced leave's legality has been established.

And oh, if you are working hard everyday to put up good numbers and you get beaten in the stack ranking by agents who have already RESIGNED months ago and by agents with nothing to show but 1 out of the 6 metrics would you not cry foul? If Stream Global Services just did the right thing and carefully studied the numbers and followed procedures in going about their business of removing 50-plus agents they wouldn't get their asses sued!

You're sure that I'm one of the 55 agents on forced leave? ;-)

    ReplyDelete
  51. I'm sure you're one of the 55 on forced leave. If you weren't you wouldn't care so much in this cutthroat industry. And if you aren't then you probably will be soon. You've got too much time on your hands. Too much angst prince... sounds like you probably got passed up for a TM post or got some bad CSAT. Go back to Teletech or Jolibee.

    ReplyDelete
  52. Damn Stream!!! here in cebu 49 Dell EPPDI trainees, which were supposed to hit the production floor were "temporary retrenched"... my god! is there such? We are terminated due to global financial crisis... that is there reason when we saw their report in DOLE-7. There will be a preliminary hearing on june 24 and 30 at the NLRC office here in CEBU

    ReplyDelete
  53. @ Anonymous - Whether you're right or wrong about me being one of the 55 agents is irrelevant. The same with whether you think I've got too much time on my hands or whether I got passed up on a promotion. Too much angst? Perhaps, but the last time I checked, it's not a crime. Tell you what - putting people on forced leave without valid reasons and without following due process is a crime, though. ;-)

Whether I go back to TeleTech or Jollibee (assuming I previously worked for those companies) will not change anything here. Stream Global Services treated their employees unfairly. Period.

    ReplyDelete
  54. @ Dell agent from Cebu - That's terrible news. I'm sorry that these things are happening to you guys out there. Things are turning from bad to worse here, too. Goodluck with the hearings. I hope you'll get the best resolution which will be acceptable to you and your colleagues.

  55. Rathalos first and foremost I want to commend you for this blog. However upon reading this blog from top to bottom. i could not help notice that a lot of people have commented in support or in negation of what you have posted in the first place. yes, you can file in NLRC or in labor. But what's the case? Illegal dissmisal?? You were not terminated? Right?

    ReplyDelete
  56. @ Agape - Thank you for the commendation. I appreciate that.

As for the comments, I'm not expecting to be pelted with flowers for the things I said here. After all, this blog became more popular than I expected that even those who are the subject of my tirades became either subscribers or followers. LOL! I am blogging for fair treatment and I'm showing them that I treat everyone fairly here by allowing people to post comments whether they are for or against me.

The case the affected agents filed was "constructive dismissal." The affected agents were not officially terminated. Stream Global Services wants them to resign, though. So it's either suck it up as they put you in limbo for 30 days or more without pay or resign if you can't take it. Quite a convenient way of laying off people if you don't want to pay retrenchment dues I'd say. ;-)

  59. Alabang site - 80 agents given 6-months TeLO or offered different programs,,, this is still ongoing. & i heard 40 more will be stacked ranked by end of June :(

This would have been ok if there was at least 2-3 weeks warning that you'll be Temporaty Laid-Off, but it was so sudden. Kausapin kang TL mo today, then the next day pirma ka na, resign or to accept TeLO for 6 months.

To be laid off for a month or 2 & this job is your only source of income, the best is to look for another job right away. Just a consideration to the selected agents, a month of warning before they give you TeLO is very helpful. At least you can prepare yourself financially & emotionally so that you can move on.

Stream management should have foreseen this act if they really value their employees, & not to treat them as dispensable as toilet papers.

  60. quote from http://blogging-about-anything.blogspot.com/

"Employees of Stream Global Services who was affected by this is no longer expecting to get their previous work at HP and is now planning to move to different Call Centers that will give them the benefits and care that they deserve. "

  61. Hi Rathalos,

First of all, i want to commend your blog here and i just want to say that the hearing against Stream global would be in your favor!

I'm a dell XPS tech support in Stream/etelecare libis, yesterday, my friend in Dell Dimension/Inspiron tech voice was given the notorious TLO without a clear explanation on why he was "put on forced leave..." i may not have a good command of the english language like you guys do for i have been in the industry for less than one year, and i'm not actually the best tech agent out there, i still stutter while on a call, but for a company to give you a cold shoulder after busting your ass for a nearly a year and keeping up, though just barely, with the metrics, is not just right!

this blog really inspired me to look for my own and think about ways on how to hold on this job. this is my first job and unfortunately, at this point, i don't know how to do anything else, i need this job to put food on the table and get my sister through school.

    GOOD LUCK AND GOD BLESS!

    ReplyDelete
  62. I'm a Dell SP1 (used to be TSR1) in Alabang site & we support all models except XPS, & just got regularized barely a month ago. I thought & want to work in this company for a very long time, but due to the financial or political crisis that the company is unfortunately is experiencing, i have no choice but to apply for for another job elsewhere, ASAP. I;m also a bread-winner for the family & all my kids go to school. To be laid off even for a month is critical to our livelihood.

As for now, lots of my friends & team mates have been laid off or sent to forced VTOs for 5 days or more, i have no choice but to apply for a job, still as a TSR or as an IT.

As an example, there were 25 of us in the team. in a span of two weeks, there are only 5 of us now. A couple resigned, some accepted to be transferred to different programs (who were lucky enough since slots were still available), some forced VTOs, & some were laid off for 6 months.

I know we signed a contract that states we cant apply or work for another CC after leaving the previous CC, but in this case, there should be an exception. We were not terminated due to unsatisfactory work ethics, but for reasons that the even the company has no control of & didnt expect for this circumstances to happen as well.

    ReplyDelete
  63. forgot to say cant work/apply 6 months after leaving previous CC

    ReplyDelete
  64. As I was pointing out in this blog, people should really "BEWARE OF STREAM GLOBAL SERVICES." If this company is experiencing internal issue like what I mentioned and the other readers who posted their comments here, then it has no business hiring employees!

To Dell peeps: Talk to NLRC people. Consult lawyers. You may have a case. Sue this company! The least you can do is have this company compensate you for the losses you incurred specially in financial aspects.

    ReplyDelete
  65. same thing here on Stream Alabang, but not forced but its on the same aspect. 30 days for you, 6 MONTHS for us. same conditions- part time work only and cant apply to any call centers. worst employer! AND UP TO NOW THEY CANT EXPLAIN THE MISSING BREAKDOWN OF MONEY ON OUR DECEMBER PAY. they said its on adjustment period, but no single reimbursment even a cent happened! LECHE KAYO STREAM!

    ReplyDelete
  66. and by the way this blog is now BLOCKED sa floor. I' m typing this comment on a pantry in Stream alabang. IT are you there? haha pag ito na block sa pantry, alam n!

  67. my advise... be smart. before you sign anything that may put your job at risk, consult a lawyer.

  71. To the supporters of the employees who were victims of Stream Global Services' wrongdoings, thank you for the love and support. It doesn't matter if you're from Stream Quezon or whatever site - it is clear that we are all affected. So I say to all of you, "MABUHAY KAYONG LAHAT!"

Later at 10AM, this case will be heard at NLRC. I will update you on developments as soon as reports and facts came in. Let's pray for those who filed cases against this arrogant company!

    ReplyDelete
  72. i think that will happen to us ....

    ReplyDelete
  73. Since marami kayong affected, why don't you have a meeting and demanda nyo nalang ang company nyo? Pagshare share nyo ang isang labor lawyer para makakuha nalang kayo nang separation pay. In Sutherland, if a client would pull out, their agents will have TLO for only TWO WEEKS. Within TWo weeks, they have to put them back in a different account, otherwise, all of them will be paid for redundancy!

Since marami kayo, I suggest hire a labor lawyer and sue the damn company. Dumiretso nakayo sa NLRC 'wag nakayo pumunta nang DOLE.

    ReplyDelete
  74. Having worked at Stream, eTel, TeleTech and one or two other BPOs that I won't mention, I wonder, brothers and sisters, if we are addressing the real problem. We work for THEM so we are obliged to follow their decisions (I'm not saying the communications should not have been better and clearer, but would the result be different?).

The Philippines imports more products and services than it exports and depends more on OFW than any other country. There are already over 400,000 BPO jobs (from zero in about 10 years). Something tells me that Stream's lawyers made sure they were in good legal standing with DOLE. We'll see, but itsn't the issue that we are at the mercy of company's industries and labor boards until we invent and innovate industries on our own? Sorry to interrupt the venting, but I just thought I'd add food for thought. Please don't be mad. I don't mean to offend.

    ReplyDelete
  75. I am also a victim of this kind of shit based on my experience, DON'T CONSULT DOLE!

they are not going to do anything,in fact they will just sit there and act like what we call BARANGAY CAPTAIN.THEY WILL JUST ASK WHAT YOUR DEMAND ARE!what they will do? they will just point you out to NLRC!what a waste of time right?!

    Fortunately I won!

    good luck guys!

  76. The politics and culture in Stream Cebu is horrifying!

Why are there managers who are under qualified and human resources personnel who are intimidated of senior employees??? Kawawa naman ang mga newbies... parang naka masking tape ang bibig at nakatali ang mga galaw. These people should work professionally! Walang kampi-kampihan at nambu-bully!
